The countdown is on, with only hours left before the big day. If you are still in need of a few last minute gifts or stocking stuffers, you are not alone. Here are a few that are sure to be a hit with every kid on your list.

Babies

The wrapping your gift comes in will likely be more interesting to the baby than your gift! Why not give something in their name and help babies in need, instead? Give a UNICEF Survival Gift. We gave two birth registration and baby blanket survival gifts this year.

Preschoolers

There is no better gift than the gift of knowledge, Ooka Island provides kids just learning to read a fun and interactive way to learn reading basics and move on to become confident readers. My two youngest kids have been “playing” Ooka Island for the past three months and I’m amazed that they are both still very interested in playing and more importantly that their reading skills have vastly improved. We are excited to see how much more they improve in 2016! Ooka Island is an app that can be downloaded on your phone, tablet or computer, so it makes the perfect last minute gift.

Kids

You can go with one of the hottest toys this Christmas like Shopkins or Star Wars, if you can find one. Or you can go a little more ‘old school’ and give them one of your childhood favourites.  Think back to your favourite toys or even better books. The Secret Garden is one of my favourite books that I gave my nine year old daughter last year. It has become one of her treasured favourties now too. This year she might just find the Little House on the Prairie series under the tree.

Tweens

Be prepared for nothing you give them to be deemed cool so why not give them a lifeskill gift. Independence is what they are seeking so give them the tools to try out their independence in the kitchen. Share your favourite recipe, cookies are a great starting point and fun to make and share. Package the recipe up with a bowl, wooden spoon and measuring cups for the complete package. The proud smile on their face when they offer you a freshly baked cookie might just be the best gift you receive this year.

Teens

In such a high tech world low tech gifts can be a surprising delight, that’s probably why adult colouring books are super popular with adults this year.  There is a wide selection of themes from cities around the world to humourous ones to beautifully detailed oceans and gardens. Pair one of these adult colouring books with a set of fine markers or high quality pencil crayons. Why not pick one up for yourself as well?!

From our family to yours we wish you a very Merry Christmas and the happiest New Year. Remember that the gift of your time makes each of these gifts that much more special and memories are best gift of all.
