Kids love animals and are so intrigued by them! The Vancouver Aquarium is a top destination for Karen and her family.

You Will Love

The Vancouver Aquarium, located in Vancouver, British Columbia's Stanley Park has a lot of animals to see; you will love exploring the many exhibits including beluga whales and "jelly invasion" a new exhibit featuring the jelly fish. My daughter especially loved watching the octopus asleep in his cage.

Don't Miss

Allow for some time to take in the Caring for Dolphins show (or any of the shows that are featured daily). You can check the website before you go or find the information board when you first arrive. Our family loved how interactive the Vancouver Aquarium is. You can play a Treasure Hunt game where you scan a code and unlock quizzes and games. There are also hands-on activities for the kids to enjoy.

Yummy Stuff

The Vancouver Aquarium has a cafe onsite with a kids menu and some typical cafe-like fare. My kids were fine selecting pizza from the kids menu. The prices are fair considering other venues but be prepared to spend some money if you decide to eat there (though the money does go toward supporting the Aquarium). One option is to pack a picnic lunch and set yourself up outside the Aquarium in Stanley Park (before or after you enter).

Most Oustanding Family-Friendly Feature

Even though I am no longer breastfeeding, I appreciated spotting a nursing area at the Vancouver Aquarium. Having a place to go, or an option, is important for moms. It might also be a quiet place to escape the bustle of the exhibits (on many many days, this is a busy place!)

Good to Know

As with any attraction, it is good to check out what the place offers before you go and the Aquarium has a really comprehensive website. There is lots to see at the Vancouver Aquarium and it can be quite busy so plan to miss a few exhibits. There are tons of shows too and it would be difficult to take it all in. They also have some pretty exciting party options - a sleepover, hello!

It is also important to mention that Vancouver Aquarium is really active in research and conservation. A nice thing to know when contemplating supporting these efforts through on-site purchases.
