Week 1 - Start Slow and Roll With It

Whether your wee one shows up early, right on time or late, every baby starts out on their own schedule and the first lesson of being a parent is to learn to roll with it.  The best way to do that is to start slow.

Once you are comfy in your bed, have family and close friends in for a quick peek and cuddle with the new member of the family, take pictures, thank them for coming and then kick them out.  Honestly, give yourself, your partner and your new baby a day or two to just hang out together.  Nap, cuddle, change diapers, feed the baby and yourselves and THAT’S IT. For busy, slightly A-type personalities like myself it can be the hardest thing ever to slow down to that speed but it is worth it and it will get you back on your feet much faster than trying to play hostess to a house full of guests.
