The Central Saanich Branch Library and Cultural Centre was built in 1988/89 as part of an Expo 86 Legacy Project. It was officially opened on February 11, 1989 as part of the Vancouver Island Regional Library system. The Greater Victoria Public Library assumed management of the library in January 2002 following a community referendum. The designer was architect Bas Smith and it was built by Wheaton Construction. The branch is 4,702 sq. ft. and has beautiful views of Pioneer Park out the many windows. The Centre has two meeting rooms rented out by the Panorama Recreation Centre.
